Ragna Árnadóttir (born 30 August 1966) is an Icelandic lawyer and the current Minister of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs of Iceland since February 1, 2009. She previously served as the acting office manager of the Prime Minister's Office from 15 January 2009. The Icelandic Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Icelandic: Dómsmala- og Mannréttindaráðuneytið) is a cabinet-level ministry within the government of Iceland. Since 1 February 2009, the minister has been Ragna Árnadóttir. The institution was previously known as the "Ministry of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs". Politics of Iceland takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Iceland is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. It is arguably the world's oldest parliamentary democracy. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament, the Althing. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
