This Reprint presents a curated collection of ten original research and review articles published in the Special Issue "Recent Advancement in Microwave Photonics" of the journal Photonics. It provides an overview of recent theoretical advances and practical applications in microwave photonics, a field that combines microwave engineering and photonics to address key limitations of conventional electronic systems, including limited bandwidth, high transmission loss, and electromagnetic interference. The contributions within this Reprint span various dimensions, from fundamental photonic integrated components to advanced system-level implementations. At the device level, high-performance silicon nitride (SiN) bent waveguides with modified Hermite curves, high-power silicon-based spot-size converters, and ultra-compact multimode micro-racetrack resonators are explored. Design innovations using B-spline curves and inverse design methods are highlighted to improve couplers and filters. At the system level, this Reprint investigates high-sensitivity microwave phase noise analyzers, frequency-stabilized optoelectronic oscillators (OEOs), and the integration of microwave photonics in radar systems for improved resolution and precision.
