Redemption of a Bloodline

Royal "Roy" Iserman, his younger brother, Benji, and their older stepbrother, Matty Grant, begin to quickly form a strong bond in their blended, growing family as they attempt to battle all the insults, bullying, and abuse from the new head of the household, Matty's father, Doug. Doug is part of the police force where the boys live. Royal suspects that Doug is corrupt, but he doesn't have any proof other than his inclinations based on how Doug treats him, Benji, and Matty. There are times when Doug's erratic, dangerous behavior scares Royal, and he begins to believe that Doug might be using drugs and/or alcohol, even while on the job. But he has no one to confide in, outside of his brothers. His pregnant mother seems dishearteningly emotionally detached from them. Following a failed runaway attempt, false accusations, and them always getting into trouble no matter whether they'd actually done anything, the boys find solace in one another, and in their shared Christian faith. Eventually, something must give... it has to.
