Regulating the operation of churches in the DRC remains a complex challenge that puts practical theology to the test. The coercive measures taken by the Minister of Justice-though subsequently rescinded by the successor to the minister who initiated them-have the merit of prompting the Church to reflect on its own structure. The Church's mission cannot be stifled by man-made laws, but to remain the salt of the earth and the light of the world, the Congolese Church must itself commit to a process of transparency, education, and social responsibility.
