Regulatory Options to Address Food E-commerce in National Legislation

Examining food e-commerce challenges, this legislative study probes how varying legal systems address food safety and consumer protection. It presents policy recommendations for building robust mechanisms that ensure compliance and protect consumers in an evolving digital marketplace. This legislative study examines the challenges of food e-commerce, particularly with regard to food safety and consumer protection, looking at how – and if – different legal systems have addressed this phenomenon from a regulatory standpoint. This study identifies several recommendations to guide policymakers in their mission to build effective regulatory mechanisms towards safety and compliance on food e-commerce channels.
