Written amidst the social discourse of the pandemic while working lockdown security guard roles, Raphael Iacocca documents the year 2021 through the eyes of an essential worker in ways we've yet to see hit bookshelves. His alter ego, Elmo, a hapless and out of touch alcoholic, replies to an ad for free security guard training and lands a job. But, first shift in uniform, Elmo's outdated rookie errors get him virtue signalled and social media activists want blood. Through mockery and litigation, his cougar-aged security guard girlfriend seems all that remains of a time when the rules of the game were simple. Relic from the past or not, Elmo's got a plan to escape; he'll gain 300 pounds and join the Fat Acceptance Movement, turn the hateful mob into sympathizers of his victimhood, and use their own manifestos against them. Can he win the fight with these slippery tricks? Or will it end up on his head like cold soup? Iacocca's surreal vision meets reality like rubber hitting road and cannot help but become a speculative vignette of our 21st Century experience.
