His name was John Hutchison. Around him had grown one of the strangest stories in the history of unconventional electrical experimentation. Tesla coils. Radio-frequency generators. High voltage. Electrostatic fields. Transformers. Antennas. Metal samples. Resonance. Interference. And then came the stories. Objects supposedly rising from tables. Heavy materials moving unexpectedly. Pieces of metal apparently deforming, fracturing, separating or changing in unusual ways. Water behaving strangely. Materials seemingly interacting without an obvious conventional mechanism. Eventually these reported phenomena acquired a name: the Hutchison Effect. The Wizard leaned closer to the screen. He was not yet interested in believing it. He was interested in something much more useful. Testing it.
