Responsive Teacher Education: From Managing Crises to Building Resilience

Teacher education faces major challenges, including teacher shortages, policy shifts, and expanding digital learning. Building on the 2024 ATEE Conference, this book brings together global perspectives to explore innovative, research-informed approaches that rethink practices and support resilient, future-focused teacher education. Teacher education is facing unprecedented challenges: from teacher shortages and shifting policy landscapes, to the rapid expansion of digital learning. This book serves as a continuation of key themes discussed at the 2024 ATEE Annual Conference in Budapest, Teacher Education on the Move, and explores how the field is responding to these challenges. Bringing together international perspectives, it examines how moments of crisis can become catalysts for innovation, renewal, and meaningful transformation in teaching and teacher education. The book comprises ten chapters written by scholars and practitioners working across a wide range of geo-political contexts.
