Retention in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics

Retention is a fundamental principle in maxillofacial prosthodontics, ensuring stability and functional efficiency of prostheses in patients with congenital or acquired defects. Unlike conventional prosthodontics, retention in maxillofacial rehabilitation is complicated by compromised anatomy, loss of natural undercuts, and variable tissue support.
