Rex and the Dowager-A First-Class Murder

A 1920s British cosy mystery and historical whodunit featuring an aristocratic amateur sleuth, a Scotland Yard investigation, a closed-circle ocean liner setting, and classic golden-age intrigue. A luxury voyage becomes a prison at sea. December, 1922. The Britannic Star sails from Southampton to New York, carrying society’s elite across a storm-lashed Atlantic. Rex joins his formidable guardian, the Dowager Duchess of Drakeford, alongside Detective Inspector Whipple of Scotland Yard, expecting refinement and rest. Instead, a murder shatters the illusion of safety. With the ship isolated mid-ocean and no escape for passengers or crew, Whipple conducts his investigation while Rex and the Dowager sift through secrets, rivalries, and whispered grudges hidden behind first-class smiles. Every elegant cabin conceals a motive. Then a second death proves the danger is far from over. As tension builds and the Atlantic crossing continues, the truth must be uncovered before the Britannic Star reaches New York. A First-Class Murder is Book 4 in the Rex and Dowager series. Perfect for readers who love Agatha Christie, Rhys Bowen, and Deanna Raybourn.
