The carpenter's apprentice Richard Blaß, born in 1928 in Lagerlechfeld, volunteers for military service in 1944. After various postings in training camps, he is deployed as a tank hunter near the Loibl Pass, where, after several battles and the loss of numerous young comrades, he be-comes a prisoner of war and is only able to return home in October 1945, heavily scarred by the war. He recorded his experiences at the front in a diary.
