Robert Maynard Hardy CBE was an Anglican Bishop during the latter part of the 20th century and the early part of the 21st. Born on 5 October 1936 and educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield and Clare College, Cambridge, he was ordained in 1963. His first post was at All Saints and Martyrs, Langley, Manchester, after which he became Chaplain (and a Fellow) of Selwyn College, Cambridge. Following this he was appointed Vicar of Borehamwood then Director of the St Albans Diocese Ministerial Training Scheme . In 1980 he ascended to the Episcopate as Bishop of Maidstone and was translated to Lincoln seven years later. In retirement he continues to serve as an Honorary Assistant Bishop within the Diocese of Carlisle.
