Rodrigo y Gabriela's In Between Thoughts...A New World is an instrumental concept album in the genre of acoustic-electric guitar rock fused with Latin, Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz harmonies and classical influences, released in 2023. Inspired by lead guitarist Rodrigo's discovery of nondualism philosophy during his recovery from COVID-19, the record explores themes of interconnected consciousness and personal enlightenment through spontaneously composed music self-produced in Ixtapa, Mexico. Departing from their traditional two-acoustic-guitar setup, Rodrigo predominantly plays electric guitar for a bolder tone, while Gabriela anchors the sound with her rhythmic acoustic strumming and thumping.
