Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Russian Organization for Multimedia and Digital Systems (ROMS) (Russian: ¿¿¿¿) is the Russian equivalent of the United States' SoundExchange. ROMS is the body designated by Russian law for collecting and distributing statutory copyright royalty payments from radio stations and Internet download sites in Russia, notably GoMusic. Many of these sites offer two free song downloads upon confirmation of a new account to lure new customers. SoundExchange is a non-profit performance rights organization that collects royalties on the behalf of sound recording copyright owners (SRCOs - record labels, generally) and featured artists for non-interactive digital transmissions, including satellite and Internet radio. The organization has attracted criticism for applying to the Copyright Office to set disproportionately high royalty rates on Internet radio as compared to satellite and terrestrial services, leading some Internet broadcasters to cease operations.
