The second installment in the Samurai Trilogy introduces new creatures and cultures as the dragon's threat, Hirakuryu, grows stronger. Father, Tomoé, and Gawappa must travel to the northernmost land of Ézochi to retrieve the second treasure of Amatérasu. To no longer be a burden to his companions, Father starts his own training. The approaching winter forces them to take a new route, and they join a group crossing the dangerous passes of the Hida Mountains. The line between friend and foe is constantly blurry.
