In three minutes, I will be dead. I have been preparing for this moment ever since I became president of the poorest nation on Earth, the Land of Upright Men, in the heart of Africa. I have challenged imperialism. I know of the conspiracy linking Gaddafi and Côte d'Ivoire's Houphouët-Boigny, both acting on the orders of the French president. And you, Blaise, my brother, I know of your betrayal. African politics demands treachery. As I take my final steps toward death, I reveal the boundaries that you, the revolutionary of tomorrow, must cross. The world can only be changed by first bringing about a revolution within ourselves. I now join the thousands of Africans murdered for daring to restore dignity to their continent. I am proud to die an upright man.
