Bol Season's Greetings follows five residents of a cheap rooming house in Greenwich Village on Christmas Eve, 1940. As the huge city around them bustles with traffic and last-minute shoppers, they deal with love, loneliness, opportunities, despair, life, and death. From the author of the rediscovered classic, Gentleman Overboard. Season's Greetings captures the mood of New York City and its people, their humor, fantasies, grudges, and hopes. Full of the atmosphere of the 1940s, it's like taking a trip back in time, walking through snowy streets, traveling by bus and subway, squeezing through crowded department store aisles or sipping a coffee at the counter of an all-night diner. A veteran reporter, Herbert Clyde Lewis creates an unforgettable portrait of Manhattan at both its seediest and most inspiring.
