Witty, thought-provoking, moving and totally honest autobiography of a man, born blind, who is now a leading broadcaster. Peter White was the second blind son born to sighted parents just after the war. His education took place before the days of integrated schooling for all (for which he is extremely grateful) and he describes with great honesty and humour the peculiar regimes of the special boarding schools he attended. Accepted into university he found the world outside more difficult to adapt to, but by a combination of despair and determination he forced his way into radio broadcasting and is now a senior correspondent with the BBC. He portrays his experiences without a trace of sentimentality but with humour and passion. This is not a book for the politically correct, but will leave its readers with a sense of purpose and achievement.
