Sever the Chains

Honor is a luxury for those who can afford to lose. From early childhood, Michelle Flint was trained by the martial masters of Fell Arts Academy to seek the most vicious, depraved criminals and deliver them to justice. For years, she watched those same murderers and thieves go free in the name of divine mercy, only to immediately return to their predacious ways. Seeing no alternative, she assumed the mantle of executioner, fulfilling her oaths to safeguard the realm by ensuring those knaves and brigands would never harm anyone again. Caught and convicted for dozens of slayings, Michelle has been offered a choice. Death, or to give a full accounting of her travels with Linda Lambda, a diminutive lambling girl who has been singularly blessed by the goddess Prellain. Bestowed with unique restorative magic, the ability to heal and erase any wound or scar, Linda was entrusted with conveying the deity's benevolent pronouncements of self-reliance, charity and generosity to her countless followers. This altruistic message is an existential threat to the dominion of the nobility and clergy. They would see the lambling silenced, no matter how many of their subjects must be sacrificed to preserve their hollow authority. This is the chronicle of Michelle, Linda, and the companions who walk beside them along their path towards freedom. An adventurous tale of friendship and loyalty, in a vast world of magic and encroaching danger.
