The risk of developing a severe form of COVID-19 is unevenly distributed across populations due to variations in exposure to the virus, heterogeneity in the distribution of risk factors for complications, and differences in access to healthcare. These severe forms posed a prognostic challenge. Consequently, studying these forms enables the identification of different clinical course profiles in order to prevent the risk of deterioration and/or the onset of complications.Severe forms of COVID-19 have carried a poor prognosis for patients, with a notable prevalence of complications. Early and appropriate management of these forms remains the key to preventing and managing the risk of the condition worsening or complications arising, and to reducing the number of deaths.
