Blood Sausage - The Short and Painful Life Of is a comprehensive collection of work from the early 1990s punk and poetry collective that operated around vocalist and lyricist Dale Shaw, alongside musicians including AJW Bourton, Owen Thomas, Jo Johnson, and Niki Elliott. This rock and indie genre album was initially released in 2016 and has since been reissued as a 2026 repress. The double album on coloured vinyl contains 29 remastered tracks that document the band's distinctive sound and approach to music-making during their active years. The album brings together material from across Blood Sausage's recorded history, including selections from their acclaimed early work, debut album material, and previously unreleased recordings and demos. The collection showcases a musical aesthetic that contemporary critics described as a striking collision of diverse influences, creating something entirely unique within the punk and poetry landscape of their era. The thoroughly remastered presentation on this coloured vinyl edition includes extensive liner notes providing context and insight into the band's creative output and cultural impact, making it a definitive retrospective for those seeking to understand this influential but historically overlooked musical collective from the early 1990s.
