Silence of the Cicadas: 1

August, in the year 1688. The Edo Period of Japan. Former samurai, Fudo Fumio now lives a quiet life in the growing city of Edo and working as a Yoriki for the Japanese police force. Fumio, known across land for his superior detective and warrior skills, is tasked by the Machi-bugyo to solve the mysterious murder of Reiko, a performing geisha who worked at the Akebono Teahouse. She is found dead by the riverbank, her vocal cords severed and a cicada shell placed upon her lips. The crime raises questions in the city for its symbolic nature, and Fumio is determined to find the killer. With the haunting memories of his past resurfacing in nightmares, and the danger of other geishas being targeted, Fumio navigates the capital city with a line of suspects in his wake. The song of the cicadas are growing silent as the summer is nearing its end...and a stalker is growing restless in the nightly winds...watching...and waiting...for a moment to strike again.
