Skadi

Rowan tries very hard to be good. She sits still, keeps her clothes clean, and says sorry when she's told to. But Rowan has a secret pine marten. Skadi is invisible to everyone else and utterly uninterested in behaving. He climbs, spills, steals jam and leaves muddy pawprints wherever he goes. Where Rowan wants to please, Skadi wants to play. As Rowan learns to be quiet and compliant, Skadi grows restless. And Rowan begins to wonder if being "good" is the same as being true. Skadi is a tender, beautifully illustrated picture book about self-acceptance, imagination and the wild inner parts of childhood that deserve care rather than correction. Perfect for children aged 4-7, parents, educators and anyone who believes that growing up shouldn't mean growing smaller.
