Social Mediation in France: From Regulation to Political

Understanding what a mediation project entails, analyzing how a mediation structure is established, and examining how a mediation project fits into the political sphere; identifying the key players in social mediation in France; and analyzing both their relationships and the socio-political role of the mediation structure in society-these are the main questions our thesis has sought to address. Since the 1970s, mediation has indeed been a topic of discussion in most legal, social, and political analyses. However, it is noted that at the same time, few (if any, of course) refer to how structures responsible for conducting mediation processes should be established, let alone the impact of mediation on civic life. In this study, conducted as part of the establishment of a mediation structure in the États-Unis neighborhood of Lyon's 8th arrondissement, the author attempts to answer all these questions.
