Contemporary Africa is often viewed through the prism of poverty, political instability and economic underdevelopment. Although pertinent, these readings are often insufficient to grasp the depth of the structural blockages running through African societies. Beyond the material indicators, another reality, more diffuse but just as decisive, deserves to be questioned: the collectivecollective awareness of their own social, political and cultural condition, political and cultural condition. This book proposes to analyze this phenomenon through the concept of "anaesthetized Africa", understood not as an absence of pain, but as a lasting suspension of the capacity to react to it.
