Soziologie für die Soziale Arbeit

This book provides an overview of aspects of sociology that are of special significance to theory and practice in social work. It discusses the foundations for understanding social relationships and illustrates topic areas in the social sciences that have close connections to social work. At the heart of the book are the characteristic nature of social action and social systems; various social entities, such as groups, organizations, and society as a whole; the family as a way of life; stages of life, such as childhood, youth, and old age; as well as social inequalities. Social problems are discussed with reference to the example of poverty. As a textbook, this volume primarily addresses students of social work and presents social scientific perspectives and findings from empirical research in the various fields. The author teaches sociology in courses on social work.

Soziologie gehört zu den zentralen Bezugswissenschaften der Sozialen Arbeit. Soziologische Theorien liefern Erklärungs- und Reflexionswissen zu sozialer Ungleichheit und gesellschaftlichen Problemfeldern, in denen wichtige Arbeitsgebiete der Sozialen Arbeit verortet sind. Das Lehrbuch stellt für die Soziale Arbeit relevante Theorien der Soziologie zusammen und bezieht diese auf Handlungsfelder und die Praxis der Sozialen Arbeit. Dabei besticht es durch eine stringente und schlüssige Systematik, die es Studierenden erlaubt, auch nur einzelne Kapitel zu lesen und das Buch auf diese Weise in themenspezifischen Seminaren im Rahmen des Studiums zu nutzen.
