Spatial Temporal Reasoning

Spatial-temporal reasoning is the ability to visualize spatial patterns and mentally manipulate them over a time-ordered sequence of spatial transformations. Academia has latched onto using this unfamiliar scientific term in describing research interests and publications on particular subject matter. Although Spatial-temporal can simply mean "relative to time and space" it is ironically not in the common-sense background knowledge of the general population (even though that is an alternate definition of the very term). It is generally accepted that in science things are thought of in terms of both time and space. Therefore the continued overuse may further distance academia and the general public. The use of "spatial and temporal" is used to suggest an even higher level of scientific thought.This ability is important for generating and conceptualizing solutions to multi-step problems that arise in areas such as architecture, engineering, science, mathematics, art, games, and everyday life.
