Livestock farming is a socio-economic activity of major importance in the Sahel. Today, degrading human activities coupled with the variability of climatic conditions have led to the weakening of pastoral ecosystems and accelerated the degradation of natural resources, the effects of which severely impact the living conditions of populations relying primarily on agrosilvopastoral production. It is within this context that this study was conducted in the Gaongo-Sud pastoral zone, located in the northern Sudanian sector of the Centre-Sud region in Burkina Faso. The overall objective of this study is to contribute to the sustainable management of pastoral resources through the analysis of its spatio-temporal dynamics using Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing tools, combined with field surveys. Landsat 7 (ETM+) images from 2000, Landsat 5 (TM) from 2010, and Landsat 8 (OLI-TIRS) from 2020 were classified using the supervised method with the maximum likelihood algorithm. The study allowed for the analysis of the changes that occurred between 2000 and 2020.
