The Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) is intended to increase the safety of international transport of dangerous goods by road. ADR aims to improve safety and security and to remove or reduce obstacles to the international carriage of dangerous goods by road between countries that are parties to the to the agreement. Its annexes are regularly amended and updated. They contain the conditions under which dangerous goods may be carried internationally. This revised version is based on amendments that will apply from 1 January 2027. It contains new or revised provisions, including provisions for: cells and batteries to take into account hybrid batteries containing both lithium ion cells and sodium ion cells and to provide new entries to cover the different cases of batteries contained in equipment and of batteries installed in cargo transport unit; provisions for the use of recycled plastics material for flexible intermediate bulk containers; provisions for transport of liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs); provisions for the design, construction, inspection and testing of FRP service equipment for portable tanks; use of packaging for damaged batteries ; carriage of empty, uncleaned packagings.
