Osteoarthritis (OA) is a major musculoskeletal disorder and socioeconomic burden worldwide, characterized by progressive and irreversible damage to articular cartilage, which has limited self-healing capacity. As a result, treatment strategies are shifting from repair toward regenerative medicine approaches. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs) are promising candidates for cartilage regeneration.In this study, surgically induced osteoarthritis in sheep knees was treated using intra-articular injections of autologous chondrogenic-induced ADSCs or BMSCs. Cells were labeled with PKH26 dye for tracking. Each treated group received 2 × 10¿ cells in 5 mL, while controls received basal medium.Results showed regenerated cartilage in treated joints, confirmed by fluorescence tracking. Both ADSC and BMSC groups demonstrated improved joint function and mechanical properties comparable to native cartilage, suggesting a promising regenerative therapy for osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries.
