Het zesde studioalbum van Steve Gunn, ‘Other You’, komt uit via Matador Records/Beggars. ‘Other You’ werd eind 2020 en begin2021 opgenomen in de Mant Studios, Los Angeles onder de leiding van producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith, Cass McCombs, Kurt Vile) en samen met muzikant Justin Tripp.De nieuwe omgeving, het warme klimaat en het hechte studioteam moedigde Gunn aan omnieuwe benaderingen en technieken toe te passen. Op het album wordt Steve Gunn bijgestaandoor vrienden en collega-artiesten als Juliana Barwick, Mary Lattimore, Bridget St. John, JeffParker, Bill MacKay, Ben Bertrand, drummer Ryan Sawyer en meer.“I came up with this title when we were recording vocals and Rob was very into harmonies. Therewas a third part and I just couldn’t find the note. I couldn’t vocalize it. He went in and took myvoice and put it into his computer program, then he could playback and “sing” the note with myvoice using the computer. And he said, ‘Sing to the other you.’ So I was singing along to myselfsinging a note I couldn’t sing" – Steve Gunn
