Still Here, Feral: A Memoir

Still Here, Still Feral is a memoir about surviving the systems that were supposed to provide safety, and learning what it means to build a life after them. From foster care, group homes and psychiatric hospitals to homelessness, addiction, sex work, incarceration and federal prison, Marcus Arseneault spent much of his life being documented, assessed, confined and reduced to labels. But this is not a tidy redemption story. It is a story about the people, places and strange fragments that survive alongside trauma. About prison family, meth, violence, love, queerness, mental illness, a hundred days in a homeless shelter, an unexpected engagement and eventually, something as ordinary and enormous as having a key to your own door. Raw, darkly funny and deeply personal, Still Here, Still Feral refuses to turn survival into inspiration porn. It is about being watched for most of your life, and finally choosing to be seen.
