STILL IN the GAME: From Lagos to California: Scams, Setbacks, Entrepreneurship, and Pursuit of Financial Freedom

Still in the GameWhat happens when the dream you crossed an ocean for begins to fall apart? In Still in the Game, Gideon Ogagaoghene Adame tells the powerful true story of his journey from Lagos, Nigeria, to California in pursuit of education, opportunity, and financial freedom. Born into ordinary circumstances but raised with faith, discipline, and ambition, Gideon believed that education would become his bridge to a better future. But America did not greet him with comfort. He arrived in Los Angeles with little money, slept on a stranger's couch, lost his first one hundred dollars, faced the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, and watched his graduate school dream collapse under financial pressure. Along the way, he lost thousands of dollars to scams, fell victim to a fake car purchase, dropped out of school, faced legal trouble, worked survival jobs, and questioned whether his dream had failed. But failure was not the end of the story.Out of tired legs, food delivery work, and a need for better transportation, Gideon built his first electric bike using a conversion kit and a salvaged scooter battery. That small solution became the beginning of Gbikes, an electric bike business that taught him entrepreneurship, customer service, leadership, risk, legal protection, ownership, and the power of creating real value. From there, his journey expanded into property ownership, long-term investing, financial education, estate planning, and the pursuit of a legitimate electrical business through ElectricalG and the WECA journey.Honest, reflective, and deeply practical, Still in the Game is more than a memoir. It is a story of resilience, faith, immigration, business, financial mistakes, second chances, and the discipline required to keep moving when life does not go according to plan. This book is for immigrants, students, entrepreneurs, dreamers, and anyone rebuilding after disappointment. It is a reminder that one mistake is not the whole story, one setback is not the end, and as long as you are still breathing, you are still in the game.
