Stories of Life By Amble A. Long: from a Small-Town Childhood and Well Lived

Belly Punches, Bears, and Bell-BottomsStories from a Small-Town Childhood and a Life Well LivedWhat do pink striped bell-bottom pants, a runaway grocery store Rascal, a black bear, and a Batman costume have in common? They all played a role in Ray Fischer's unforgettable journey through childhood and beyond.Growing up in a small Midwestern town of just over 600 people, Ray learned early that life was never boring. Whether he was being forced to play Robin while his brother got to be Batman, surviving his mother's garage sale fashion experiments, punching the town doctor for refusing to say his name correctly, or watching his grandfather terrorize grocery store shoppers with an out-of-control electric cart, there was always another adventure waiting around the corner.Filled with colorful family characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and stories from a time when kids roamed free and common sense was considered a safety plan, Belly Punches, Bears, and Bell-Bottoms is a heartwarming and hilarious collection of memories that will remind readers of a simpler, less supervised era.If you enjoy humorous memoirs, small-town Americana, family stories, and tales that leave you laughing long after you've finished reading, you'll feel right at home in these pages.Come along for the ride-but watch out for bears, bell-bottoms, and older brothers.
