Structural Correspondences: Ten Poems in Musical Forms presents a distinctive poetic method in which form is not imposed upon experience but discovered within it.Each poem in this collection begins with an observable phenomenon from the natural world: moonmilk forming in caves, frost flowers crystallizing across ice, rainbows emerging from atmospheric conditions, volcanic eruptions, eclipses, orbiting bodies, and the movement of photons through space. From these phenomena, the poems derive their organization through corresponding musical forms, including ternary form, song form, rondo, arch form, theme and variations, and through-composed structures. Composed according to the principles of Absolute Composition, the work seeks structural correspondence between the organization of physical phenomena and the organization of artistic form. Repetition occurs because something returns. Variation occurs because something reappears under altered conditions. Transformation occurs because the phenomenon itself transforms. The resulting poems are concise, formally rigorous, and grounded in direct observation rather than symbolism or narrative. At the intersection of poetry, music, ecology, geology, astronomy, and optics, Structural Correspondences proposes a different relationship between art and the world: one in which form is discovered, not imposed. Through ten compressed compositions, the collection explores how the structures of natural phenomena may reveal corresponding structures in language, offering a poetic practice rooted in observation, pattern, and emergence.
