Student activism

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Student activism is work done by students to effect political, environmental, economic, or social change. It has often focused on making changes in schools, such as increasing student influence over curriculum or improving educational funding. In some settings, student groups have had a major role in broader political events. Numerous critics of student activism suggest that the automatic typification of student activists as "students" (or "agents of activism") rather than free-thinking individuals is in itself a form of oppression; by isolating individuals as students without acknowledging their multiple other identities, activist movements tend to disenfranchise the very students that participate in them.
