Bol Transdisciplinary research aims to break down the rigid division of labour between politicians, scientists, experts and farmers, and to produce results that are relevant to practice. Different social actors work together through dialogue to develop a joint solution to a societal problem. As part of the National Research Programme NRP 61 'Sustainable Water Use', the University of Bern carried out the 'MontanAqua' project in the Crans-Montana-Sierre area (VS, Switzerland). A platform comprising various regional stakeholders served as the link between the research priorities of water supply, water consumption and water management. Together, they designed four possible socio-economic development scenarios for the region through a social learning process. This study evaluates this process from the perspective of stakeholders who were previously involved. The aim is to describe the factors necessary for effective collaboration between researchers and stakeholders in order to formulate recommendations for improving the efficiency of transdisciplinary collaboration.
