Suburban Death Trip

Suburban Death Trip is James Hippie dragging the corpse of the '80s suburbs out into the daylight and letting you smell the rot. Merging The Punk Called Stories and Weeklies, it's all scraped knees, busted curbs, and punk shows in rented halls-kids growing up under Reagan with nothing to do but burn time and try not to burn out.Michael Essington, Author of Last One to DieSuburban Death Trip reads like a Raymond Carver-penned Afterschool Special; the parents are MIA, there are strangers at the door, and no one learns a valuable lesson. A haunting portrait of youth before childhood succumbed to the surveillance state. Mads Hagen, Rock Screed FanzineSuburban Death Trip compiles James Hippie's two independently published chapbooks, 2018's The Punk Called Rock: Stories and 2021's Weeklies, into a single edition. Tales of childhood damage and teenage disaffection in the Reagan eighties, Suburban Death Trip is a dark snapshot of the suburban dream in stasis.
