In this book, we lead students through the challenges of achieving higher efficiency in photovoltaic devices, a goal often hindered by material and electrical losses at critical interfaces. To address this, we employ Silvaco-Atlas numerical modeling to systematically enhance the performance of InGaP/GaAs tandem solar cells. Our objectives are threefold: minimizing recombination through optimized back surface fields, improving current flow via advanced heterostructure tunnel junctions, and boosting light absorption with novel subcell configurations. The successful integration of these strategies results in a simulated cell with a conversion efficiency of 41.585%, a significant achievement that rivals existing theoretical and experimental benchmarks. These findings establish numerical modeling as an indispensable tool for rapid and cost-effective innovation, providing a clear blueprint for designing the next generation of high-performance, III-V-based solar cells.
