Tastes of Coastal Croatia

I come from a Croatian family, rooted in Petrčane-a small fishing village just outside Zadar. From the earliest days, I was taught that food is how we show love. Everything begins and ends at the family table, where laughter flows as freely as wine, and where my grandparents always said: "Nobody ever leaves hungry." And they never did.What I share with you here is more than a collection of recipes-it is a piece of my heritage, a gift from my family to yours. You'll find traditional Croatian dishes alongside American favorites that we've joyfully "Croatianized," each one meant to be shared, savored, and remembered.Our roots are in Dalmatia, where life along the Adriatic means the sea gives us fish in abundance, while meat is saved for holidays and honored guests. Olive oil is our lifeblood-pressed from family trees, poured with generosity, and always at the heart of every dish. We cook simply: with herbs, fruits, vegetables, spices, and above all, with freshness and love.This is the food of my family. This is the flavor of my life. And now, I hope it becomes a part of yours.
