TAU: The Unharmed

Tau is a young man raised by Jabari, a wandering sangoma, who instilled in him a deep knowledge of the natural world, of language, and of the unseen. From birth, Tau carries an extraordinary charm: harm directed at him does not vanish - it finds its way to someone the aggressor loves. He cannot be wounded. He cannot be touched. But the gift is also a burden, because every act of violence against him costs someone innocent something they cannot explain. When a warlord named Bhekumuzi, guided by a powerful witch doctor named Ngiza, targets Jabari in the belief that destroying the charm's maker will break it, Jabari is killed. The theory was wrong. The charm holds. Bhekumuzi's pursuit of Tau becomes the instrument of his own destruction, and his kingdom collapses around him. But Ngiza, the man who fed the warlord the fatal idea, flees before the consequences arrive.
