Authors note Book 26 finds the children leaving the Sandlands and entering the Grasslands. They find themselves walking along the southern shore in search of the Roaring River. They have been told in previous adventures that along the Roaring River they will find the Great City, a place of unimaginable wonder and delight. The city is located on the map just above Palm Beach (from Book 1) on the other side of the Roaring River. However, the Roaring River is virtually uncrossable. The children are told there is another way to reach the Great City: they must first pass through a most mysterious forest of trees - but that may not be such an easy task.
