The Adventures of Sir William Turtle: Long Way Home: 1

Not every birthday wish comes true. But what if yours did? Then what? That's exactly what happened to William. He's just a small turtle living by a quiet pond, where every day looks exactly like the one before it. Then, on his tenth birthday, he makes a wish out loud, the kind everyone around him thinks is a little ridiculous: to see the world beyond his pond. He has no idea that wish is about to come true, or how far it will take him.Armed with nothing but an old compass, a secret from his grandmother, and more determination than sense, William sets out toward the Ocean, and far beyond it. What he finds along the way is bigger, stranger, and harder than he ever imagined: a city full of wonders, a failure that knocks him flat, and an unlikely companion who refuses to let him give up, a snail named Gus, who has opinions about absolutely everything.Together, they face storms, rivers, rude birds, and a kingdom under a curse that no one else has been able to break. And slowly, William starts to discover that the real adventure was never really about where he was going. Will he make it home? And if he does, will home even feel the same?A funny, tender, slow-and-steady adventure for kids and the parents who read with them, about courage, friendship, and the long way we sometimes have to go to find our way back to ourselves.Perfect for fans of gentle, heartfelt journeys that leave readers smiling long after the last page, and a wonderful birthday or read-aloud gift for any kid who's ever wished for something bigger.
