The Applicability of World Peace: Myth or Reality?

Dr H.L. Mbiya offers the world a reflection on the way in which peace is implemented globally. The current global situation calls on everyone to ask themselves a number of questions: why are there so many wars and conflicts in the world? Why terrorism, discrimination, regionalism, xenophobia, racism, clanism, and so on? Is it possible to fight for freedom whilst at the same time massacring the very people one claims to be liberating? What outcome can be expected by meeting violence with violence? Why the looting, embezzlement of public funds, rapes, massacres, and secessions, and so on? These are questions posed to us by everyone; even newborn babies have asked them, even though they cannot express themselves; nature and everything within it asks them too. However, it is only human beings, peoples and nations that can, to some small extent, provide answers to all these questions. The answer to these questions can only be found if they organise themselves to minimise all possible threats or put an end to these scourges that prevent the world from living in peace.
