THE AWARD LETTER

Thando Mkize built Makhanda Civil Works clean. He keeps copies. He trusts documents more than speeches. He believes public money can still build what citizens need. When his company wins the East Victoria Link Road tender in Port Victoria, the award letter should save his business and his daughter's medical future. Then he sees the handwritten phone number at the bottom of the page. A voice offers him three favours. He can refuse only one. Soon Thando is trapped inside a network of shell companies, stalled permits, planted audit queries, murdered evidence, frightened insiders, predatory financiers and a figure known only as the Chairman. Every refusal makes the next demand more expensive. Every clean decision costs money, safety, time or family peace. To survive, Thando must do more than remain honest. He must build a file strong enough to outlive fear. The Award Letter is a tense African political-financial thriller about corruption, public money, family pressure and the price of keeping clean hands in a dirty tender system.
