The Baker's Deadly Secret: A Sweetwater Bakery Mystery

A dead body. A beloved friend under suspicion. And a baker who refuses to mind her own business.Delia Marsh came back to Sweetwater Cove, Maine, to do one thing: save her late grandmother's bakery. With the annual county fair four days away and a blue-ribbon prize that could turn the bakery's finances around, the last thing she needs is to open her walk-in cooler on a Friday morning and find the town's most disliked antique collector dead on the floor. The sheriff - her complicated, exasperating, frustratingly competent high school almost-boyfriend Tom Reyes - has his sights set on the most obvious suspect: Nan, Delia's seventy-three-year-old bakery assistant, who'd publicly argued with the victim just days before. But Delia knows Nan. Nan makes the best piecrust in the county and has strong opinions about everything, but she is not a murderer. While prepping honey cakes and managing the morning rush, Delia starts asking questions. Her customers talk. Her dog Biscuit finds things he shouldn't. And what starts as a personal grudge over a disputed antique slowly unravels into something much bigger - a years-long property fraud scheme with the town's most trusted faces at its center, and a killer who will do anything to stay hidden.Including threatening the baker who is getting uncomfortably close to the truth. The Baker's Deadly Secret is the first book in the Sweetwater Bakery Mysteries - a warm, witty cozy mystery series set in a charming Maine coastal town, featuring an amateur sleuth who bakes under pressure, a slow-burn romance that refuses to rush, and a cast of characters you'll want to visit again and again.Perfect for fans of Joanne Fluke, Diane Mott Davidson, and Debbie Macomber's small-town series. Includes two bonus recipes from the Marsh Family Bakery: Nan's Blue-Ribbon Sour Cherry Pie and Delia's Fair-Morning Honey Cardamom Scones.Standalone mystery with a satisfying resolution. Series romance develops across books. No graphic violence. No explicit content. Just good baking, genuine mystery, and a town worth visiting.
