the Basin and Towel

What does it really mean to follow Jesus Christ? For Adam R. Bykofsky, the answer began with a simple act: a bishop kneeling in a temple dressing room to help with a pair of socks. That ordinary moment became a powerful reminder of the night Christ Himself knelt before His disciples, took a basin and towel, and showed His followers what divine love looks like when it becomes service. The Basin and the Towel is a collection of fifteen reflective essays about discipleship, faith, humility, sacrifice, perspective, and becoming more like Jesus Christ.Drawing from the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, history, philosophy, science, and personal experience, these essays invite readers to look at familiar truths from unexpected angles. The book's foundation remains firmly centered on Jesus Christ, while its conversations reach across disciplines and traditions. This is not a book about admiring Christ's example from a distance. It is an invitation to take up the basin and towel yourself-to notice before being noticed, to serve without recognition, to remain faithful through difficult seasons, and to allow small acts of faith and kindness to shape the person you are becoming. For readers seeking deeper discipleship, spiritual perspective, and a more deliberate walk with Jesus Christ, The Basin and the Towel offers a simple challenge:Will you notice? Will you kneel? Will you stay?
