The Beloved Son, Baldr: story of Frigg’s overwhelming love for her son

The Beloved Son, Baldr tells the tender and tragic story of the radiant god whose presence softens Asgard and whose fate breaks the hearts of the gods. At its center is Frigg, his mother, whose overwhelming love becomes protection, terror, devotion, and sacred grief. From Baldr's birth in the golden halls to his dreams of death, from Frigg's desperate oaths to the forgotten mistletoe, this book follows the myth with immersive storytelling rooted in Norse legend and emotional reverence. Baldr's fall, Nanna's sorrow, Odin's shaken silence, and Hermóðr's road to Hel unfold as a journey through love that cannot command fate, yet refuses to let memory die. Alongside the mythology, each section includes a reflection to guide you into the heart of the story and a meditation to help you sit with tenderness, fear, grief, protection, trust, and love beyond loss. This is a book for anyone who has loved deeply, feared loss, mourned what could not be changed, and searched for the light that remains woven into the soul. Through Baldr and Frigg, ancient myth becomes intimate, luminous, and human, carrying you from first wonder to final endurance with softness, beauty, and sorrow still held in one sacred flame.
