the Challenges of Coastal Migration Related to Marine Environment in Cité Soleil

This document addresses the phenomenon of coastal migration. This refers to the migration of populations to coastal areas. It is driven by population explosion, globalization, the growth of tourism, and other factors. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is also present in Haiti and affects all of the country's major cities, with the exception of Hinche. One of the most striking examples is the town of Cité Soleil, which is home to an impoverished population that, once settled along the coast, quickly engages in certain activities that can disrupt the proper functioning of the marine environment. After several observations and in-depth analyses, the results clearly show that the presence of the population along the Cité Soleil coastline poses significant challenges capable of causing negative impacts on the functioning of the marine ecosystem. This book is intended for anyone who wishes to gain insight into coastal settlement and the functioning of the marine environment near the Cité Soleil coast. It will also highlight the need to consider the impacts of human activities on the marine ecosystem.
