The Corner: Collected Fictions by Jingsong Chen

This book contains thirty short stories, divided into three parts. The first part is named after the author's early award-winning novel, Lao Han's Pizzeria. The stories in this part generally focus on the lives of new and old Chinese immigrants and students in the United States, which may be joyful, sad, or satirical. The second part, titled Prison Visitation, is essentially the stories the author has written after becoming a lawyer. These stories are about the legal troubles, confusion, and helplessness of some Chinese immigrants who struggle to survive in the new world. The third part began with the author's award-winning work, Issue of Age, featuring mini-fictions that mostly have humorous or satirical descriptions of the life dilemmas of new and old Chinese immigrants in the new cultural environment.
